Amazing Holiday Paws

The poems in Amazing Holiday Paws have a lot of animal content that is focused on different holidays to enhance each reader's enjoyment of some of our many holidays. For example, on the second day of February, readers can enjoy the poem "Climate Change on Groundhog Day" and read about a groundhog named Philly interacting with people who have no names. Near the end of October, readers can enjoy the dream of a cat in the poem "Political Scratches from D.C.'s Dreaming Cat on National Cat Day (October 29)."

Many animal viewpoints (and sometimes people's views) are visible in the poetry of Amazing Holiday Paws. The poem "Spying Eyes on National Dog Day (August 26)" has a spy dog with a name (Kylie). In the fifth stanza on page 118 of Amazing Holiday Paws, she interacts with people who have no names:

"Tiny Kylie moved superfast to discern
what the spying person was trying to burn.
She pulled her owner toward the burning light
and wanted to win any upcoming fight" (Petit 118).

Kylie's view is visible in this stanza when she is pulling her owner, rather than being pulled by her owner, to watch the burning light in the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.

Amazing Holiday Paws has poems for many holidays, such as New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays. Many of these poems have action happening in Washington, D.C. The different poems are enhanced by Christian content, suspenseful action, interesting formats, artistic components, historic elements, dream/reality sections, and amazing interactions among family members, friends, and animals.

Multimodal elements add to the amazing content of Amazing Holiday Paws. Images are visible in the mazes, photos, metaphors, formats, shapes, and icons. Aural components can be heard in the rhythms, rhymes, alliteration, and other sound components.

The maze poems that are formatted as mazes, in additional to the ones that use maze symbolism, make Amazing Holiday Paws an enjoyable collection of poems to read, especially on holidays.
